Director’s Statement

“I wrote, directed, animated, and edited the sound and image for ‘Head of a Camel’ from 2025-2026. It is a short experimental film in which I aim to elevate the voice of a first-generation immigrant point of view, simultaneously bringing about a sense of diversity along with unity in the fractured themes which may encompass all minority groups.

In ‘Head of a Camel,’ I focus on my Asian heritage and Daoism. Daoism’s seriousness in magical perspective parallels the importance of creative expression and storytelling for me.

Using under-the-camera animation techniques such as replacement animation of photographs and 2-D puppets made out of packing tape transfers, the film juxtaposes earthly materials with an ethereal mythology and is synthesized into a visually demanding riddle.”
